POSITION OVERVIEW

SQL DEVELOPER

Our growing team needs an experienced SQL Developer. The right person for this job will bring a collaborative and hands-on approach as a technology leader who provides strategic vision and tactical support, maintaining and evolving our growing company. In this role, you will be responsible for identifying and communicating software development schedules and timelines well as architecting, designing, developing, and implementing complex software solutions that align with the business needs.

 

Candidates should be passionate about working with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, engineers, designers, and data scientists to drive the company's goals. In addition, the right person for this role should be experienced, highly organized, and possess a strong work ethic.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary function of the Lead Developer is to provide project guidance and accountability to a team of developers, produce complex and straightforward code for new and existing applications. In addition, you will prioritize, plan, and execute assigned project deliverables and tasks according to deadlines and budgets set by the project leader. 

  • Facilitate regular communication on project status and timelines
  • Provide one-on-one feedback to developers on individual performance and progress
  • Confer with systems, engineers, developers, and others to design systems and obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces
  • Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine the feasibility of design within time and cost constraints
  • Analyze requirements to determine and plan system specifications and layouts
  • Analyze problem definition, requirements, and map to the system workflow
  • Design, develop and implement complex software solutions that align with the business, development, deployment, and maintenance needs using MS SQL
  • Preparation of solution design document including detailed business process flows and key control points
  • Determine system performance standards
  • Perform software review and analyze code metrics
  • Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation
  • Communicate progress and updates effectively with project stakeholders and internal teams
  • Grow and maintain knowledge of IT industry technologies and trends

STANDARD QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified candidates should be positive, driven, and confident individuals that will represent the company and its customers professionally at all times. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, a related field or, an equivalent in relevant work experience
  • 5+ years of working experience with design, programming, and implementation of complex software and IT projects and management of technical resources
  • 3+ years experience in a technology lead/supervisory role
  • Experience using SQL Server or similar databases
  • Working knowledge of web servers and configuration, as well as datastore concepts and relational database design
  • Demonstrated ability to complete complex development tasks with high levels of quality and within pre-determined timelines
  • Ability to adapt to changes and prioritize and manage competing demands
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret data and understand and communicate complex and diverse information
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with various situations exercising flexibility and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment

CONDITIONS

  • Must be authorized to work in their country of residence (The United States or Canada)
  • Must be willing to submit up to a LEVEL II background and/or security investigation with a fingerprint.  Job offers are contingent on background/security investigation results

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This job operates in a professional office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be largely sedentary and will be required to sit/stand for long periods while using a computer and telephone headset. The employee will be regularly required to operate a computer and other office equipment, including a phone, copier, and printer. The employee may occasionally be required to move about the office to accomplish tasks; reach in any direction; raise or lower objects, move objects from place to place, hold onto objects, and move or exert force up to forty (40) pounds.
